Charter our self-drive houseboat and explore
one of the most idyllic areas in New Zealand.
Lake Wanaka located right at the heart of the southern lakes, is
the gateway to the Mt. Aspiring National park, the third largest
in New Zealand. This is one of the world's most pristine wilderness
areas.
The geography of Lake Wanaka, the fourth largest in New Zealand,
makes it perfect for exploring in the houseboat. It is a long narrow
lake with many different arms and an extensive shoreline which is
mostly inaccessible except by boat. There are many idyllic sheltered
beaches to moor your houseboat in overnight.
There are four significant islands to explore all of which are
conservation reserves open to the public. These uninhabited islands
are havens for many types of flora and fauna some of which have
disappeared from the mainland.
Wanaka is only an hours scenic drive through the alps from Queenstown,
the international gateway to southern New Zealand and is a favourite
holiday destination for New Zealanders and a premiere destination
for International travelers.
It has a stable climate – summer averages 23 and winter tends
to have calm clear days with highs around 10 degrees.
